info
I am a Charlotte native and attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, where I graduated with a B.S. in psychology. After college, I lived in the Washington, DC area for ten years, obtaining a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Towson University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Maryland - College Park. Following my internship at UNC-Chapel Hill Medical School in 1987, I remained in the Triangle area for three years as Senior Staff Psychologist at the Developmental Evaluation Center in Raleigh. From 1990 to 1996, I was employed at the Center for Mental Health of Carolinas Medical Center (now the Behavioral Health Center), where I worked with children, parents, adolescents, and families.
I started my current practice in 1997, where I work with individuals and couples on a variety of issues such as improving communication, anxiety and stress management, and other life challenges. I have a special interest in bereavement and other types of grief and loss issues, such as serious and/or terminal illness, miscarriage, separation, divorce, pet loss, depression, and other life transitions. I also have a special interest in wellness and positive psychology.
